It is a very nice property! Stayed on the way to Key West.
You will want to enjoy the tourist site where the movie "Key Largo" was partially filmed and also the African Queen boat is most interesting.
Good inexpensive places at mm 99.
One good spot to eat is The Buccaneer in Homestead. A good stop before going into the Keys. Just watch your speed and traffic. The highway is most dangerous.
The gfamily had a great time at the Key Largo Marriott. nice layed back vacation in the sun. go down a few mile to Carribean water sports and take a boat ride out into the keys. the guide will show you wilelife and mangrove fields; very nice. Also go feed the tarpin at mile marker 50~.
We've been staying in Key Largo for the month of January for the past 3 years. All of the suggestions are great ones, especially John Pennekamps snorkeling. You can also kayak and dive. I don't think the African Queen is still at the docks in KeyLargo, you may want to check that out. But you can go on a fishing trip with others for 40 bucks, half day! Lost of fun. The restaurants are great. There is the Fish House which is our favorite. Right next store is the Encore, owned by the same people but more fancy and pricier. Also check out ShipWreck. It is definately a locals bar, a little scary going in at first but the welcome guest and their food is to die for. We must have eaten there at least once a week. It just opened up a little more than a year ago. The Marriott is a beautiful spot to stay. They have restaurants on the premises and good live music. Another fun spot is the Big Chill. They have a great outside deck, also live music, nice pool and lots of fun. Have a great time. Oh yeah, then there is Gilberts!! Go there on a Sunday, live music, the place is packed, great food, on the water!! Head down Card Sound Road (North) and you will hit Alabama Jacks! Pretty cool spot as well.
