Are rewards points redemptions not allowed at Marriott's Crystal Shores? "Blackout dates" maybe? I'm still learning my way around redeeming our points I'm currently reserved at Marco Islands resort, but the Villa will suit us better. This is our second family vacation using our points! Our last one was at a vacation club in Disney. Thanks so much for any help and guidance as I still learn the ropes!
Hi there roxihilton
The following properties either do not participate in or do not fully participate in “No Blackout Dates” at this time:
The above is taken from Marriott's Rewards Terms and Conditions. So maybe The Crystal Shores Vacation Club is one of those that doesn't participate in the "no blackout dates". You could always call the property and ask to speak to a manager.
roxihilton, in my experience, it can be hard to get a room at Crystal Shores either by using MVCI points, MR points, or even paying cash. That property seems to be full all the time which is probably why they are building 2 new towers. It is fantastic though, if you can get it. SeaTexan has a good suggestion to call the property directly and inquire, or maybe call MR if you haven't already. If you can find a way to use points, try to get a room directly facing the gulf. It will cost more points, but the view cannot be beat. And the villas have expansive balconies for each room, so it's a huge amount of outdoor space right on the beach with the most beautiful sunsets every night. Well worth the points. Having said that the Marriott down the street is wonderful, too. That place is often at capacity, too, and it's also undergoing a huge expansion. Let us know where you end up and how you like it.
Here to shed some light on your question. Each participating hotel offers at least some rooms for reward redemption every night of the year. For the majority of days during the year, all available standard rooms can be reserved using Marriott Rewards points or a promotional award. This provides members with a much greater opportunity to stay for free, subject to availability. Availability, and how quickly rooms are booked, is based on guest popularity. Guest popularity can be affected by a hotel’s category, its location and the services and amenities it provides. It is also influenced by the time of year, and local, regional and national events and attractions.
As stated previously there are a few properties, including all Marriott Vacation Club locations, that might have black-out dates. Unfortunately we don't have specific information on which dates, if any, these properties have blacked out. The hotel staff may be able to confirm if redemption is unavailable or blacked out on a given date.
