Here's a list of the first seven in the new Autograph Collection of Marriott Hotels:
The press release can be found here. Since we're heading for this area later this year we now have a reason to hit these cities and try these hotels.
While the Marriott homepage (www.marriott.com) lists the Autograph Collection as a choice as of today (January 26th) the links to these hotels does not work. I guess they are working on that aspect for reservations. I would hesitate to make reservations with them directly (the Kessler Group) until this is fixed.

The Plantation Room at the the Celebration Hotel is a must try. Friends and co-owners at our Orlando timeshare invited us to dinner there and it was truly a memorable experience. Thanks for posting the news release.
Thanks for putting up this interesting post, Stepping. I have stayed at a couple of these hotels and there are some really nice ones on this list, as TJC points out in his reply. Looking forward to trying them. I find it fascinating, too, that after all these years of striving for "standardization," now Marriott is going in the direction of "individualization." What goes around comes around; of course this is just one Marriott brand, but I really find this new Autograph idea a good one in response to the trends today's hotel market. It's going to be interesting to see the advertising and follow the development, don't you think?
Notice that the name is the Autograph Collection as a stand-alone? Not "by Marriott?" This seems purposeful in that these Kessler Group hotels wanted to be seen as unique. The Choice Hotels of the World seems to be the competition, and each of them is independent and unique--I've been to several of them.
So, good news is that the hotels maintain their botique status and we are able to accumulate and use Marriott Reward points in them, making our choices in some cities a little easier.

Test searches at Marriott.com suggest that the system is not fully loaded yet. Selecting 'Autograph Collection' and Orlando, Florida delivered every single property in Florida. While it makes perfect sense to create a bucket to house the new portfolio, it also makes sense to gray out the selection box as a visual cue that it's pending.
It will be interesting to see how these boutique properties are mapped to Hotel Category. The News Release may have jumped the gun.
