Here is a random date I picked for the Fisherman's Wharf San Francisco Hotel | San Francisco Marriott Fisherman's Wharf checking out rates and found a very interesting Member Offer. Keep in mind New – Members Now Get Our Lowest Rate When Booking Direct when you check out just how friendly these offers might be or NOT at the hotel site. Click on the "Member Offers" tab for an example of how Reward Members are getting treated at this place:
Anyone else find this to be a great deal other than myself?
Hello nathalie, carat, melissaerb, lindseyh, AndrewT and KatieC, what is Marriott trying to tell us loyal members anyway? How does this type of thing continue to get past a simple proofreading of what is posted on a hotel site or is this yet another in the growing list of glitches with the IT Department corporate wide?
I would be embarrassed till the cows come home if I was the GM of this property after having that rate show up. And to think this is a property which we have stayed at a great number of times over the last 14 years or so, not at that rate I won't be.
IAHFLYR Is this implemented yet? I got a rate of 3 dollars lower than the standard rate at a local hotel but I thought this was not starting until April.
It's not just at the Wharf property. Check out some more SF properties and you will see the same thing. Regardless of their latest marketing - um, book direct 'strategem', which hasn't kicked off yet, I don't understand why Marriott does this either (offers Marriott Rewards member rates at over 4x the standard rate.) In what universe would anyone ever enjoy seeing that 'offer'?
SeaTexan, is that gold star new, I kind of remember you being silver. If so congrats.
Thank you! but I didn't really earn it yet. They bumped me up for 3 months and offered me the "challenge" automatically. I won't meet it (6 stays in 3 months). HOWEVER my upcoming trip to New York was going to get me Gold anyway . So while I was going to be VERY close, it's awesome that I will already be gold when I get to NY and keep it after my 6 nights there.
Great question, thanks for asking IAHFLYR! While the functionality for Member Rates appears today for some properties, you will start seeing discounted Member Rates starting April 11th. We recommend waiting until the 11th for the full rates to be displayed. Thanks for inquiring, and sorry for any confusion this may have caused.
deannad it's not confusing it is more insulting to see this. I will wait for the April 11th roll out, but in the meantime does Marriott wish to continue to show the world this type of stuff or rather fix it?
The "Member Retail Rate" is a new category to me. I've seen Marriott Rewards rates, but not a Retail offering. I'll bet that is the name for the secret rate coming our way.
Like all of the other "special" rates, someone will need to monitor and update at the hotel level or these type of insulting rates will kinda ruin it, don't you think?
This morning I was booking a one-night stay in Massachusetts for a Saturday night in June. The Courtyard property listed the AAA rate at $142 and the Member Retail Rate as the same. I thought, why even bother offering a Member rate? If it included breakfast I'd be thrilled, but alas, the breakfast rate was $169.
So this is an experiment. I booked the Marriott Rewards Member Retail Rate and will continue to check rates until day of arrival (as I always do). We can all agree that there should be some benefit for Rewards members to book the MRMRR, and we hope it would be either a better rate than what Joe Schmo can book or something included, like breakfast.
I'm not trying to be difficult, but why leave these silly abnormal rates up there for the world to see rather than notifying the hotels and having them removed until April 11th or maybe you folks have done that? It really looks very poor in my opinion of Marriott.
