This seems to be a security issue.
I never realized it but I can login with the correct digits and letters but the letters are not case sensitive. This is true for the new (maybe old) MVCI website login as well.
I would have CHAT-ed but there is no button to select to chat.....even though the webpage
Mine is case sensitive, and I also called MR and had them put on a 2-factor authentication code so that if I call I have additional security info I have to give them. After hearing too many stories about vanishing hotel point accounts, I thought it was better to be safe than sorry.
