I just have to nominate Evelyn Kellebrew from the Houston Airport Marriott for the Spirit to Serve recognition. After a horrible day of flying with a missed flight, failed standbys, weather delays and cancellations, Evelyn gave me the warmest of welcomes when I had to check in late at night after being unable to complete my day's travel. I think she could see it on my face and her friendly smile really helped me relax and be happy to be there, despite Houston not being my final destination. She saw that I was only carrying a small bag and must have predicted that I might need to do some laundry and told me about the hotel's laundry room. After I told her that I wouldn't be able to make the breakfast due to my early flight, she gave me a voucher for a coffee and a breakfast sandwich. While this is nothing she probably wouldn't do for anyone, her friendliness and spirit to serve when I really needed it was especially helpful and made a bad day better.
