Junior's Cheesecake just off Times Square is a good family place that the girls wil love--better call if you are a large group and let them know--with the Holidays it can be very nusy there.  Food is good, the prices reasonable, and there is a retro feel to the place that everyone can get in touch with.  Good luck with the dinner!

Are 12-13 year olds too old for American Girl Place?  Dinner is $26.

Greetings Arthur and welcome to New York!

In addition to the places already mentioned, here are 3 suggestions where atmosphere, food and holiday magic are juxtaposed in ways that are sure to delight you and your party:  Chelsea Market,  Union Square and Bryant Park.  If you are planning to drive on Saturday, make sure to stop at a bank, and buy rolls of quarters so you can feed the muni-meters.  On Sunday, New York is very visitor-friendly and parking is FREE:

    • The Chelsea Market is located on Ninth Avenue between 15th and 16th Streets.  This is the home of the famous Food Network.  From bread, pastries, fudge and culinary delights that are certain to delight the troop and chaperones, the Chelsea Market promises a memorable experience.  Open Saturday and Sunday, parking is ok.
    • Union Square Holiday Market is located between 14th and 17th Streets @ Broadway. On Saturdays, the area is vibrant and thriving.  In addition to the Farmer's Market, the Square is set up with booths featuring hats and scarves to toys and lots of ethnic foods.  Around Union Square there are many eateries including the Heartland Brewery, a personal favorite.  Best place to park is E17St between Broadway and Fifth Ave. Meters are only 1 hour here so best to use a parking lot located mid-block.
    • The Holiday Shops at Bryant Park is located in the heart of Midtown between 40th and 42nd Streets @ Avenue of the Americas (6th Avenue).  The Pond at Bryant Park is the only place in New York City where everyone can enjoy FREE ice skating.  The Bryant Park Grill is among my favorite places and is closer to the 5th Avenue side of the park on 40th Street.  The BP Grill is pricey and reservations are recommended.  Parking in this area is tough on Saturday, I recommend going there Sunday.

Have a fun and exciting weekend in NYC!

Jekyll and Hyde would be a fun place for them!
