Reward level

I will be within 1 night of qualifying for Platinum level.  Looking for input as to whether I am better off carrying over 24 nights to 2010 to ensure GOLD status continuation or push for Platinum with the risk of not maintaining GOLD due to reduced travel in 2010.

(For each location tag, you will be guided through a 3-step process to add (1) a city and a state or a city and a country, (2) a Marriott brand, and (3) a Marriott hotel.)

Call the elite rewards line and tell them that you're that close.  If you have 74 nights you'll roll over as Gold with 24 nights to start the new year.  Gold and Platinum have become fairly homogenous recently in my opinion and you'll get the same recognition and lounge access with either.

So, Gold is not that bad to renew, Platinum is nicer but at the same time, you'd start with zero nights if you make it at 74 or 75 nights--I'd stick with Gold myself if I were chosing.
