The views are excellent no doubt but outside of that has anyone else out there had a less than satisfying experience at this hotel? We stayed over Canada Day and were very disappointed in the hotels woeful unpreparedness for handling such volume of families. I have stayed at other "Full Service" Marriott's that are clearly geared up for conventions - and excel at such events - during the week but when it comes to weekend guests and the families the property just doesn't seem to get it.
From not staffing the concierge lounge on the holiday (it was locked zero access) to indifferent hosts at the mezzanine restaurant, to poor communication to me and my wife of how these issues were to be handled upon check in, the service and communication levels did not live up to expectation.
Then there is the elevator issue...truly an embarrassment with redundant calls chasing other calls, all five elevators, when operating, go to the 18th floor but only three go to upper floors with no way to specifically call those elevators. Creates chaos and long waits.
Anyone else been there recently experiencing this or am I just the lucky one?
This is unfortunate to read, boilermakerkev, but welcome to Insiders.

I have stayed a both Marriott properties in Niagara Falls,ON
My most recent stay was at the Niagara Falls Marriott Gateway on the Falls.
It was during Christmas and the concierge lounge was not open during the holiday time.
I believe this is standard operating procedure during holiday times.
Gateway did give us more dinner coupons which did not help because our package included dinner coupons so I asked what else they could provide. They did adjust our bill by $25.00 which I found to be acceptable.
Busy time travel is always a difficult call and it is hard to know when they will be busy or not but I would suggest for
September travel you won't have any trouble at either Marriott property in Niagara Falls, ON.
I have stayed at the Gateway more times and I do enjoy this location the best.
The staff is helpful and their restaurant was pleasant with decent food choices, adult beverage choices, and a very good steak dinner. Look at Travel Zoo for deals in September.
I suggest you try both the US and Canadian version of Travel Zoo to see what special deal packages might be available for this time period.

I know of the Sheraton but still prefer Marriott.
I've stayed at Niagara Marriott and have traveled there on day trips. For me, there is not too much to do there, other than take boat trip down under the falls. I've not found any place I'd recommend for food.
However, as I posted to another insider, I'd suggest finding a nice B&B at Niagara by the Sea, a small village before you arrive at Niagara (coming from Canada). This is a lovely spot, with many fine restaurants, and safe community, and if you want to visit Niagara (favorite tourist spot of many), you can always drive over for a visit.
I have to say we have stayed there and absolutely loved it ! They took very good care of me with an upgraded room that was larger and had an excellent view. They provided some Platinum benefits which I thought were great including free breakfast for the weekend. We went there for a concert at the casino so we kept busy but I love this hotel and can't wait to go back. Sorry your experience was much different.
My experience squares with taxman193 - the suite overlooking the falls was one of our family's favorite Marriott rooms, ever, anywhere... [For others' reactions on this topic, see: Re: Favorite Marriott Views???? ]
Yes, yes, it's a large, crowded, institutional hotel ... and it fits right in, because the city is horrific (crowded, touristy, over-priced, unappealing), but - if you've never seen the Falls (or you want to take kids or grand kids), this property is a jewel.
Thanks for the prompt to contribute!
My experience was only stellar. The room was fantastic, the CL was beautiful, and the 10th floor was great.
Sorry to hear about @n8's experience.
Here are some of my favorite photo's from Fallsview:
The view from the room!
The CL Manager is a "History Expert" on the falls!
Dinner at the revolving rest. is reasonably priced and breathtaking.
Our favorite place to visit was Niagara on the Lake!
I Gotta admit, I'm quite dissapointed In my stay here at Niagra Falls Fallsview so far...my last night after a week in various Marriotts (Brampton, detroit, Courtyard in Niagra last night) and this has been only a few hours but it has been bad. Ok, but indifferent check in( I mobile checked in) then key wouldn't let me into lounge(very small btw).then key wouldn't let me back into room...went down stairs, got a new key...didn't work....got another set of keys, they worked but got to room and tv remote turned on tv but didn't work after 5 min, fridge in room doesn't seem to work...had someone up to fix tv(which was very prompt) and look at fridge....offered to give put another fridge in the room but I declined I've already filled a recycle box with ice so no point. oh yeah, for some reason it took me 4 tries to get onto wifi...I just need to vent...we,be spent 4 nights in other properties this week and had great service and It just is disappointing to have a shotty experience on the last night of a trip. The marriott at rennisance detroit is great, and the service was super...this is my 30 something night this year and had great stays all over the us and Canada so perhaps im due for a sub par stay...
