Guess what January 14 brings?
HHonors points will be deflated from 20 to 25% and "category 7" is added with higher point prices - of course.
Naturally, this means category creep cannot be far behind or already in place?????
Info is actually on the HHonors website (buried as deep as possible) and many Hhonors cardholders already got their emails with the ominious "news".
This makes MR a much better deal!
Does HHonors have a hosted online community equivalent to Insiders where members are discussing the downgrade?
Marriott Rewards Insiders, Welcome to our 2009 Program Changes forum! had 636 posts before being 'hidden' in February only to be 'unhidden' this past July. With nearly 28,000 views, this thread is the single most viewed discussion on Insiders with the highest number of posts. Nothing comes close.
There was alot of discussion about the value of Insider feedback. In fact, initiatives like Marriott's Elite Rollover Nights which was probably the most popular and successful program of 2009 was among the suggestions put forward early in the Welcome to our 2009 Program Changes forum! thread.
There is a lesson learned for HHonors. More than likely, they will copy cat Marriott rather than truly innovate as Marriott has done. Marriott is singular in inviting and measuring guest feedback which is why they continue to be distinguished and at the forefront of the hospitality industry.
TJC - From the Hilton website - looks like yes:
Does Hilton award 10 points/$ across all brands?
TJC -- IMO, this is the ONLY one-up Hilton has on Marriott. I got the same email as others...glanced at it and dumped it. The quality of the properties and staff at my recent stays at WDM Marriott, CY Pentagon South, and TPS BWI are reasons enough for me to remain a loyal, committed Marriott customer.
