Ritz Room Upgrade using Club Level E Certificate

I am a Marriott Lifetime Platinum staying at the Aruba Ritz for an upcoming trip.  I am using a Club E Certificate to upgrade our room to Club Level.  This is an E Certificate provided to me by the Ritz Carlton Visa Card (you get three per year).

My question:  Will the Aruba Ritz still be required to upgrade our room to a larger, Club Level room based upon availability at check in, based on my Lifetime Platinum level of membership?

(For each location tag, you will be guided through a 3-step process to add (1) a city and a state or a city and a country, (2) a Marriott brand, and (3) a Marriott hotel.)

Hey wally3433, I've passed this on to our team to get some clarity. Stay tuned!

you need to call in advance to use the upgrade cert, which will change your reservation to an actual club level room.

you can still request an upgrade based on status, but there isn't usually a whole lot of options with Ritz. both suites (and club level rooms, but you're using a cert) are excluded, so you might just get a corner room or a better view or something.

Hey wally3433, I wanted to give you an update on what a Ritz Rewards specialist confirmed for me. You are still eligible to request the upgrade, but there are only two types of rooms available on the club level: standard and suite. The Ritz does not offer suite upgrades under the T&C's of the Room Upgrade Elite Benefit. So you could potentially receive a corner room, but the hotel is under no obligation to upgrade you to a suite. The request must by made upon check-in.

Shout out to Jsucool76 for nailing yet another answer, as always
