We just came back from a 2 week trip to China. While in Beijing, we stayed at the Courtyard Beijing. The hotel is a little "used", but the overall experience was great: excellent location, the employees were very helpfull (the booked us train tickets before our arrival to the hotel, helped with reservations for dinner, etc, etc). Close to the hotel you have a mall, fast food chains (McDonald's, Hagen Daasz, KFC, and also a Food Marked and Local food chains to have breakfast if you do not want to use the hotel restaurand and grab something on the go).
While in Beijing, we saw from a taxi the location of the new Courtyard Northeast , and the location was not convenient at all. Even if it's a much nicer hotel (according to the reviews I've read), location in Beijing is everything.
I would recommend the Courtyard Beijing for it's location. The rest was ok: clen and spacious rooms, good service. The only thing was the noise from the streets, but it was much better than expected.
