This past April, we stayed for a total of 4 nights at the Heathrow Windsor Marriott and really enjoyed it. It was the bookends of a 2 and a half week England vacation. I posted an update on May 29 that gives more details. The conceirge lounge at this Marriott was very ordinary, but the hotel staff was exceptional. They have a wonderful breakfast in the restaurant if you get the weekend breakfast deal. The rooms were a nice size for the London area. This hotel seems to be cheaper with points or cash rates than the other airport Marriotts because it is a little further away ( maybe 10 minutes by the Hoppa?).
We were able to check into our room after our overnight flight around 8am. They had told me over the phone that we could store our luggage for sure, but we were actually able to freshen up and relax a little in the room before we went to Windsor. It is a great location for Windsor Castle and Oxford......Heathrow Hoppa drops you off right at the hotel, and there is a bus stop right across the road and a train station very close by as well.
I enjoyed our visit to the Windsor Castle "complex" more than I had planned. Leave yourself at least 3 hours for that and longer if possible. I wish I could go back and tour the castle itself again now that I learned more about England's history during the rest of our trip. They did allow us to have a free return visit on that ticket stub, so hang on to it. Our tour guide ( rather than the headphones ) was very entertaining with stories, etc. The train drops you off right in the middle of town, and there are restaurants and lots of shops to take in as well. If it is a nice day, walk to the Thames River and eat at one of those restaurants. We took a little river cruise that I was a bit disappointed in.
Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip!
i have stayed at the Marriott Windsor, its a very nice hotel, recently renovated. Its close to several attractions at Windsor and you can get loads of young children there at weekends, so it can be a bit hectic especially the swiming pool. Like the other 2 hotels at Heathrow, theres nothing to do outside the hotel, all are on busy main roads. The Renaissance and Marriott at Heathrow do have views of the airport, but Windsor is not by the airport. There are also some very very good rates at Windsor at weekends, like £52.00 per room.
