Several posters on FlyerTalk have already requalified for Platinum, but the lion's share have not. This group is pro-Double Nights for Elite and 'edgy' about Marriott's lack of response.
Since the outcry over the 2009 Program Changes, a number of Elite shifted loyalty to competitors. In this group there are Elite who would shift there business back to Marriott if Double Nights were offered.
For what it's worth, the value proposition is to regain loyalty. Marriott Concierge has posted on FlyerTalk before* why not now?
TJCNewYork -- help me out. From your understanding, who exactly is targeted for this "new" double nights promo? Is it new MR members only? Are existing MR members who Marriott believes have left the reservation included as a way to get them back? If so, is that what it takes to get Marriott to listen --- threaten to go to the other side? Confused...
This new promotion is targeted to members who dont stay so often and to encourage them back. I understand that, but what about other members who continue to stay but may find it difficult to reach their current Gold or Plat status next year, so the double nights promotion could help them achieve it next year with the rollover, thus keeping their loyalty if they felt they could keep their elite benefits. Well thats how i think anyway. I keep getting offers from Sheraton and Hilton and have to say Im tempted by some of them, but want to stay loyal to Marriott. As a leisure traveller i find it extremely hard to maintain Plat status, so any help like this promotion would be great for me, and therefore, encourage me to rebook with Marriott because if the advantages of being Plat.
