Has anyone else seen the Trip Advisor comments warning about this Property? I have a reservation on Sep 8 and now am worried about the extent of the renovations. Also seem to be a few other complaints about the pool usage by local residents. It seems to have ruined a few peoples trips. Any rebuttal Marriott?
In addition to being a resort hotel, Kauai Beach Club is also a timeshare resort of Marriott Vacation Club. My family vacationed a week there and enjoyed every minute. Apparently, the Trip Advisor reviews which are scathing were posted by guests on the hotel side where the focus of construction is. I'm completely in agreement with the poster that cited the jackhammering from 8am to past 4pm. That's unreasonable and I would have left too.
According to the notifications on the MVCI owner web site, construction/renovation of the hotel rooms, suites and lobby began June 1 and is scheduled for completion, September 2nd. One of the dining venues, Aupaka Terrace is scheduled for renovation starting 9/2. Find out where in the hotel is Aupaka Terrace. If jackhammering is in the line-up, be smart and make sure your room is remote from the noise or consider rethinking your plans.
The pool is scheduled to be open and fully operational throughout the construction period. Hawaii's beaches are public land and the Kauai Beach Club is right on the beach. Locals do try to sneak in and use the pool, and it is a source of contention as Loss Prevention can be aggressive and sometimes mistake guests as locals. Usually, incidents are resolved amicably and quickly.
While concerns about construction are totally understandable, the Kuaui Resort should be brand spanking new by September 8 and you'll be among the first to experience it. Do consider confirming the scheduled completion. A letter to owners invites questions to be directed to email@example.com or call 808-246-5011.
Hope this helps.
Those Tripadvisor comments are acurate ---- HOWEVER, the writers have overlooked these facts:
1. Construction is limited to the hotel building only (North side of the pool).
2. The scope and schedule of the summer 2009 construction project was fully disclosed months ago on the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club website ----- see www.vacationclub.com.
