El Paseo is a 1 mile divided landscaped drive filled with upscale shops, boutiques and restaurants, the newest addition to Palm Desert. Among the surprises you'll find are the larger than life sculptures and objects d'art commissioned to punctuate El Paseo's streetscape. Dragonflies and humming birds are among the creatures that inhabit Palm Desert and this sculpture was a show stopper.
There is much to be said for the folks who design and keep up the El Paseo area of Palm Desert. Just before you get there off route 111, you might stop at the Palm Desert visitors center. The volunteers there are very helpful, and they have the fabled "Local Knowledge" that is so helpful when visiting. Some of the things they have (pamplets, etc.) contain discounts for dining, etc.
El Paseo itself is a great walking destination for anyone of any age: we love to head from store to strore, checking galleries, and of course eating and drinking along the way. A marvelous place any time of the year.
Thanks for reminding me of my second home (in CA).
