VERY informative article, thank you for posting. Marriott's Vacation Club brand is truly ahead of the curve in offering FREE broadband WiFi internet access since 2006 in villas in the US. Like DirecTV, free WiFi is a brand standard.
A fee for these services is bundled into the annual MVCI maintenance fee along with electricity, landscaping and so on. The business model works. Implementing a free model on the commercial hotel side by incorporating a nominal charge into the rate structure or offsetting the expense with an advertising supported model makes sense too. The question is, will guests welcome or object to an advertising supported model?
