I cannot think of anything that I value more at Marriott than being recognized as a frequent guest.  Somewhere, somehow the times they are a changin' as the song says.


I would guess that the amenities we've come to know and love will drop away. I would and could do without turndown, the newspaper at the door, the chocolates, etc.  Each of these is a cost, and in larger hotels a tremendous one, that are most likely on the chopping block.


So, remember the good old days, just like in airline travel-- Chateubriand carved tableside at your leather seat, a little Dom Perignon served chilled in a crystal flute, warm towels at meal's end, etc.


A new day has dawned, Marriott is going to have to cut, and we, as loyalists, will feel those cuts.
