Since our first choice, a one bedroom villa at Boston Custom House was not available due to refurbishment, we decided to try a one bedroom suite with a harbor view at the Residence Inn Boston Harbor on Tudor Wharf. We were pleasantly surprised.
Located in Charlestown on the Charles River, the hotel is much larger than Residence Inns we've enjoyed and a step-up at Category 5. In addition to the classic Residence Inn complimentary breakfast, the RI features a Harborwalk Cafe for dining alfresco - weather permitting. The Front Desk recommended we try the Boston Sail Loft in the nearby North End for a twin lobster dinner. We were not disappointed.
The only thumbs-down about the RI Tudor Wharf was the valet parking at $32 per night which is ineligible for earning Rewards points. Weekdays or weekends, Boston definitely favors residents when it comes to street parking, so visitors should not risk pricey parking summons and go for cabs, self or valet parking everywhere!
Overall, thumbs up for the Residence Inn Boston Harbor on Tudor Wharf. Highly recommended as a Must Try.
The RI Tudor Wharf is in Charlestown across the Charles River. In summertime, it is about a 20 min walk across the bridge to Boston's North End and 30 minutes walking to Quincy Market, the New England Aquarium, Columbus Park and more. The nearest T-stop is by Bunker Hill which is the opposite direction from the downtown Boston area, it's probably much quicker to walk. The breakfast is quite good and the associates very attentive. They do have an evening reception during the week, not on weekends.
