You picked a great time to go to an interesting place! Try to take the train from the airport to downtown. If you are staying at the Ren. walk, if Marriott take cab.
You will not have to walk much if you do not want to because everything is close.
Best sights I found on my recent trip was Anne Franks hiding place and the canal cruise. All is interesting and the meals are very reasonable.
Unfortunately, the Tulips won’t be out yet in March, especially this year has been a very cold winter. I explained what to see in how to get there;http://www.elitepro-travel.com/2008/10/windmills-souveniers.html .Tourists like to go to the Rijks museum and the many other attractions in Holland but the place that most visitors describe as the highlight of their visit is, - Zaanse SchanSThere are four direct trains per hour that take you from Amsterdam Central Station to the Koog-Zaandijk station in 17 minutes.
Amsterdam is one of our favorite cities. The Marriott is very convenient to everything. Leisdesplein is right there for easy access to trams/buses. In addition to Museums, Ann Franks house, also walk the '9 Streets' area.... lovely shops, restaurants (pancake restaurants!). A great day trip is to go to Madurodam - wonderful for any age! Enjoy! The Dutch are helpful and friendly.
the Marriott Amsterdam Hotel is located central to the best part of the city. Close to the most active square in the city and so many places to eat. Also close to the canal cruises and the Ann Frank museum, A MUST SEE!
Yo u take the train to the cety Centre terminal and take the trolly, I think #3, to the square near the casino and then it is justr a block away.
