No one's falling for the Blackout date eliminations theme. We all see it's just a huge point devaluation with that as the cover story.Judging from the blogs most everyone sees thru it. Timing being everything, you couldn't have picked a much worse time to pull this w/ occupancy rates plunging. Shame on you.
It's taken several months, but Marriott is delivering on the No Blackout Dates policy, so I'll be bold and disagree.
Here we are at the height of the spring break. I sent my daughter and her friend on a cruise out of Miami and booked them at the Marriott Courtyard Miami Downtown, a 7 minute ride from the Miami Cruise Terminal. Little did I know that the hotel is in an industrial area overlooking a parking lot. Her cruise returns 4/18 providing time to rebook. The Courtyard Miami Beach Oceanfront looked promising, but was not available using points (@Marriott.com). Immediately, I jumped to the conclusion that Marriott failed to deliver on No Blackout Dates - but I was wrong.
Thanks to Platinum Elite Reservations, they contacted the GM and did a Platinum Overide. Platinum Elite said this is their way to deliver upon the 48 hour Guarantee. It took a little bit more effort (picking up the phone), but not only was my reservation on points honored, Platinum Elite requested and received a complimentary upgrade to an oceanfront king - exceeding my expectations!
