We just returned from a week's stay at the Marriott in Curacao. We chose this location as one of our daughters and her family lives in Holland so they had a direct flight there as did we from Atlanta. We booked three rooms, two using points and paid for one. Upon arrival only two were ready and the other one was not ready until 6 pm. A long travel day for us all and we were not expecting this delay. We did manage to upgrade to a waterfront room as we are platinum members but it wasn't easy. We had to keep checking back and asking, asking ,asking. The pool area was delightful and smallness of the hotel was good for us as we had a two year old with us.The baby pool was less then clean so we always used the big pool. The rooms really need to be upgraded and are a bit shabby. Our big unease was with the food. It was very expensive and none of us liked it! We are healthy eaters and most everything was fried even the grilled items.
The staff was on the whole friendly and even brought out a piece of birthday cake for our grand daughter for her birthday breakfast. The staff in the hotel store was usually on the phone, indifferent to helping and pretty unfriendly!
We were there right before the Christmas rush so there was plenty of room by the pool, etc. We did discover the beach bar which had lunches and dinners and we ate out there on the beach on picnic tables which was great! Hook's Hut which was so well recommended was horrible the night we were there. Terrible service and inedible food!
SOOOOOOOOOOO, while we wouldn't go back and really wouldn't reccomend the hotel to others we had a great family vacation if you can understand why we would say this. We were all together, the weather was pleasant and we will try someplace else next time!
