Although not the most sought after destination on the docket of Marriott Hotels, the St. Kitts and Nevis Royal Resort & Casino blew recent vacations out of the water. Ignore the mediocre review that the islands received in Fodor's because the truth of the matter is that this is a lesser-travelled, tranquil Carib oasis. After an elongated wait at customs (of note, everything is slower on the islands...it's a good thing), we were politely whisked away by a taxi that drove us the 10 minutes to our hotel, all while giving us a historical run-down of everything we passed along the route. When we arrived at the hotel, we were notified that our room had been upgraded to a slightly nicer room, which turned out to be a third floor, panoramic ocean view suite. It was gorgeous! Throughout our stay we were engaged in some sort of fascinating activity like: climbing the volcanic Mt. Liamuiga and dining at Ballahoo, Shipreck Cove, and the numerous restaurants on the hotel premises (try the BBQ Chicken Pizza at the pizza stand by the pool). The island is enriched with an entrancing and fascinating history, and is even home the Brimstone Hill Fortress (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). If history or food don't really interest you, perhaps the black sand beaches and flowing alcohol will (try the local Stag and Carib beers or Ting wit a Sting).
SHHHHH--- Let's keep it a secret---an undev and quiet get-away, like St. Barth's! Last thing I'd ever hope for are for the crowds to discover it, and swarm like Aruba, St,Thomas, or Cancun ---Love it, love it, love it!--- Have been twice, only island where we DON"T rent a car, walk to Timothy Beach and ferry to NEVIS!! Did you get to Montpelier Plantation, and see the cabin where Princess Diana took the two princes; truly a spirtual experience!
ecoeddie I have stayed at the St Kitts Marriott. While walking to the ferry is possible I don't recommend it at all. It is about 2 miles and not the easiest walk. Just take a taxi.

Can any one give my wife and I suggestion on what to do and what to see in St. Kitts? This is our first visit there and trying to make the most of my week there. If you have resturant suggestions that would also be appreciated.
My wife and I are considering whether to go to the Marriott Curacao in March. We are looking for a location with a good beach, warm weather and snorkeling. We aren't sold on Curacao as of yet so want to see what others have experienced or
I am going to the Marriott Frenchmans Reef Hotel on St. Thomas in July. I have been reading some horrific reviews on this property and hope they are not correct. Has anyone been here recently that can share their experience? Many thanks.
