We have been Plat members for two years and we consider ourselves very loyal to the brand. We are an owner and prior to retiring in the next 5 years will purchase again. We travel extensively for both pleasure and business and try to exclusively stay in the chain. We find other programs have other features that appear more equitable in that:
Plat match to entice switch of brand
When you stay even with points the night is counted (after all you are spending $$ at the hotel in dining and activities) or at least this encourages you to do so.
They include a stay count as will as an individual night count to meet status levels
Adjustments should be made in the program to accommodate economic times i.e. reducing the # of nights required.
I agree no blackouts is not an enticement when you have increased the average night by a 30% point increase
Treating a stay in the Fairfield or other economical brand does not appear reasonable to compare equally to a night in a JW or other resort. Again some premium should be added for certain brand useage or $$ spent period.
