Level of Membership based on amount of money spent on Card

I think people should move up levels of membership based on the amount of money spent on their credit card as well as how many rooms you rent per year. It's all spending money with the company isn't it?

Marriott goes one better then the others in this area as it give marriott visa card users 15 free nights for using the card and various other promotions to earn free nights, double night credits and points.  The other programs make sure earn the reward through spending but all have limits as to how far money spent will take you.

    Hi jbowman:

Marriott does give credit you for one elite night for every $3000 you spend on the Marriott Visa card. If you were at the Gold Elite level and spent $75000 on the card during the calendar year, you would recive 25 elite nights during that spend and become a Platinum based on the spending done with the card even if you didn't stay any more nights beyond the 50 required for Gold Elite.
