My Stay at the Newly Renovated Residence Inn Atlanta Midtown/Georgia Tech Location

I'm currently wrapping up a stay with my brother at the Residence Inn Atlanta Midtown/Georgia Tech for the period March 26-30, 2015.

This hotel has made total renovations all throughout.  I had a free night certificate for this hotel but could only get a studio for the 1st night. Over the next 3 nights, I had a reservation for a 1-bedroom suite. The rooms show major improvements. The regular room rate appears to have increased by $50-60 on average.

The entrance has become sliding automatic doors. Upon entering the hotel, the front desk is set in the area where the dining area used to be. The dining area has expanded to accommodate 2-3 times more guests than it had before.

The property is well lit at night all around the hotel.

The parking area has been enforced by assigning its hotel guests parking numbers. If you're parking a vehicle, you must be assigned a specific parking number. If you do not receive a number or park in an unassigned empty spot, you could have your car booted. Before the renovations, you could park anywhere. Even guests could park there and visit you. I was never charged a parking fee until now!

The parking rate has increased to $25 per night. Another option is to park in the lot across the street from the hotel. The overnight rate is $10.00 through 11:00 am the next day; the 2-hour parking rate is $3.00 and the daily rate (all-day rate) for parking is $5.00.

Hot and continental breakfast are served.  Cereals, assorted muffins, fruit, boiled and scrambled eggs, sausage and potatoes are the general offerings for breakfast along with juice, milk and yogurt.

The staff appear to be friendly and helpful. A few of the staff members that I recognized from before the renovations are no longer there with the exception of one named Eric who I have observed is very helpful with the guests.

Nevertheless, this stay has been enjoyable, and I look forward to staying her again.

(For each location tag, you will be guided through a 3-step process to add (1) a city and a state or a city and a country, (2) a Marriott brand, and (3) a Marriott hotel.)
