This topic has been brought up ad nauseam over the years and appears nothing has changed. The reason for the PP level I guess is that they want you to realize how valuable you are to them but in reality the perks are exactly the same as "regular" platinum. Some PP members have reported receiving a small gift like a bluetooth speaker or travel kit as a perk for being PP. I agree, if you are PP you should be recognized as such.
There is NO difference! Most hotel staffers have no clue that there is the category level "Platinum Premier". One staffer at a hotel, THE GM, in conversation with me just lumped PPs in with all the other "Elite" designations.
If you received the yearly gift, thanking you for your loyal patronage, there is also literature with your PP card and there is NOT ONE line in that literature that distinguishes between Platinum and Platinum Premier. We are just Platinum.
Thanks for posing this question, arunabada, and thank you everyone for sharing you perspectives on this topic. You are correct in that there is no big difference between Platinums and Platinum Premiers. Platinum Premiers make up the top 3% of Platinums, and do receive an annual gift for reaching this status.
