Anyone else run across a Marriott property that does not have a hotel review? I just found some in Curaco that hotel reviews do not show up. Now with them gone from Insiders guess we have to use other resources like TripAdvisor etc.
I'm guessing that it's because apparently only those guests who receive the official "guest satisfaction survey" are allowed to write a review, and no one who's received one felt the need to respond -- or perhaps no one's received one. In researching properties last week, I found very few reviews for several properties, and those that were there were mostly in the vein of "Good property -- would stay there again" or " Lousy breakfasts." Not really much help.
Me too. I think painedplatinum hit the nail on the head back in February: "I was a major supporter of getting the reviews under control. I still feel that way. The cry on here was that reviews were overwhelming travel related content. Insider reviews were a great source. Moving them to "the side" was the remedy...eliminating them was not."
I absolutely agree foxglove. Taking them away dramatically reduced the value of Insiders!!!!!!
This site is much less useful because of that decision. I confounds me that Marriott has ignored the overwhelming support for bringing reviews back to this site.
I've looked into this for you:
You're right, in that you are no longer able to leave reviews on Insiders and the current reviews are being removed. Internal reviews are now being done on Marriott.com; however, you can only submit a review if you receive a Guest Satisfaction Survey following a completed stay.
Below is a link to more information around Reviews.
I hope this helps.
By the way- Just read this statistic on the Beard:
> The Rockets are 24-4 when The beard scores 30 or more.
Fear the beard!
Yes fear the Beard....and they should have taken the Blazers, gave the game away. Hope you enjoyed the event as much as we did watching at home even though we'd just gotten home and they lost. Rumor has it Dwight comes back next week to prep for the RUN!!
As for the reviews, the problem is Marriott.com does NOT have any reviews for these two spots in Curacao which makes it kind of difficult to read them when they don't exist for some crazy reason. I know there has to be some reviews as they joints have been around for ever.
The game was wonderful! Got a bit sloppy at times, but it was a fun one to watch.
With regard to reviews, one thing I didn't mention is that hotels without reviews on the website have not yet received 5 reviews. There is a minimum threshold of 5 before they show up on hotel websites.
Also, I will certainly inquire about review invitation processes! Seeking clarity now.
And since I received only one such invitation in 2015, I was essentially rendered unable to review.
I don't understand the rationale that the hotel decides who gets to review. Perhaps, politicians should decide who can vote in next years' presidential election. Apparently, that is how Marriott would do it!
Bottom line from my perspective: A hugely valuable resource for both Marriott & Marriott Guests is gone. Why?
They did clog up the pipeline of communication/information on MRI, but the intent was never to eliminate them. Why are they gone? Speaking for myself: I miss them!!
A traveller seeking information and fellow traveler reviews best resource now is Trip Advisor. Why?
I have been a guest in several different properties since the first of the year, but haven't received an invitation to review. Any shout outs from MRIs that have?
I've stayed at about 10 different properties this year and received only one review invitation. Knowing this might be an infrequent event, I completed it right away.
I encourage all Insiders who get selected by the luck of the draw to create a hotel review take the few minutes to fill it out and submit it.
I really hope joshm will take this to "The Greater Team" as I have only gotten one review invitation as well out of about four different properties this year. Why as Paris askes....WHY?
That explains why I could no longer find the reviews on here, thought I had lost the link....now that I am a platinum rewards member, I liked to look at those on here to see the what others on the site thought of properties. I, also, use tripadvisor.com - so no big deal, but wish they were still on here.
It's sad we just cannot do the review here on 'Insiders'. I have been away from here for about 2 years. I came back to see if there was any improvement or reason why I should participate on a regular basis. Since reviews are not allowed that is a very big reason against spending my free time here.
Its upsetting we cant post a review of a hotel after we stay there..I get maybe 1 or 2 surveys a year..and I had over 100 nights last year..This makes the hotel reviews section on a specific property less than helpful..United Airlines for example send out surveys to many of its passengers..How in the world does Marriott get feedback from its guests unless they ask for it?
This is a review of the Towne Place Suites in Miami Lakes, Florida. I haven't figured out how to post an independent note. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The motel itself is in need of refurbishing. The halls and room have a smell. The furniture in the room is really dirty, as are the carpets. The dishwasher is next to the wall and pulls away when you open it. Not the quality I expect from a Marriott.
I believe that I have a reputation for being very supportive of Marriott on this site. I frequently take fellow "Insiders" to task for coming down too hard on Marriott.
Nevertheless, I cannot understand why Marriott completely ignores the near total support on this site for bringing back reviews. It's as though the company does not care what its most loyal customers want.
Why!! Why!! Why!! is the desire for reviews completely ignored by the corporation's management.
I'd love to get a response from the company as to why it has such total disregard for our feelings on this subject.
As IAHFLYR has asked, communitymanager and team joshm, KatieC and lindseyh? Why do some not have reviews and how do we fix the issue? More than that, why cannot we review these properties where we stay and spend good money?
Well & passionately put phctourist!!
The apparent disregard from Marriott about hotel reviews just gets curiouser and curiouser. I cannot fathom the reasoning behind allowing only a small percentage of guests to complete a survey. I would say this to Marriott Leadership, Moderators, Community Managers: "Share with us why you don't want your Guests to consistently be allowed to review your properties?" Simple. Maybe we are missing something that you could enlighten us on.
My husband & I went on a road trip today. We had breakfast @ a fast food joint - we received an invitation to review our experience on our receipt. We had lunch @ a chain restaurant - we received an invitation to review our experience on our receipt. We stopped @ a big box store to pick up some things and received an invitation to review our experience on our receipt. Hmmmm.
Feedback is critical. Period. It rewards great performance and allows for course correction where needed. Everyone I know uses Trip Advisor, Open Table, Yelp, etc to help make decisions as to where to spend their money & time.
Bottom line: If there is a reason that Marriott wouldn't want the feedback that almost every other corporation seeks, please share it with your loyal guests.
I just had to add this. In the interest of being fair and open minded, I went back through previous responses from Marriott about the concerns about hotel reviews.
The only real response was to a link about "Marriott Verified Guest Reviews". OK. It confirmed that only selected guests would be allowed to review a property after a stay. OK. Marriott calls this "Keeping It Real". Their phrase, not mine.
STILL NOT EVEN AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM OUR MODERATORS!!!! Did we scare them all away or do they believe turning a deaf ear/eye to this issue will make it go away? If so that sounds just like the Federal Government Agency I used to work for and that is very very sad.
This lack of interest to give loyal Insiders and Marriott Rewards members the time of day is really putting a bad taste in my mouth, very very bad taste.
Reviews were what initially bought me to this site because they could be trusted being broadly posted by road warriors like me who knew what to expect and were not put off by minor problems. They were real world and I sorely miss them!
Alas, I think there's little they can say, the decision has been made to follow the current course and it must play out. One day things may change, and this thread may be picked up, the dust blown off and new consideration. Like you, phctourist, I'll not be holding my breath.
