Are cancelled stays using reward points re-posted back to account?

I booked a room using points in September 2014 and I can see the transaction listed as "1 night, category 2 hotel" and a deduction of 10,000 points.  I cancelled the room in January 2015 well before the actual date and I can see it again listed as cancelled, however, for points earned it shows zero.   Since then, I have not seen the 10,000 points re-instated and I thought they were supposed to be?   I know Ive cancelled stays using points previously, with the points reinstated... or am I missing something here?

You should see the points back in your account. It normally doesn't take long. It might be time for a call to MR customer service to find out what happened.

Yes, I've always had the points (or certificate if you're using one of those) recredited back to my account!

All points stays are cancellable. When cancelled points automatically and instantly re-credit your account and history shows the transaction as nil. Ring up customer services, I have experienced the same glitch and it turned out that the e-certificate (e-document generated when points are deducted from your account) had not been attached to the reservation and was simply sitting un-allocated on my account. Alas we don't get to see that part of the rewards system so only CS can deal with it for you! Its easy to sort in a quick phone call though...

I had a similar situation as brightlybob.

CS needed a supervisor to authorize the transfer of the certificate sitting in "limbo" back to my account.

Spoke to MR Specialist who indicated the 10K points are deposited back on the date it was originally deducted.   So I cancel in January 2015 and I have to go back to September 2014 to see 10K deducted followed by 10K redeposited.   All good... there it was redeposited.
