I'm considering requesting Marriott points from family members as a gift and I'm wondering what happens if someone attempts to purchase points for you over the 50,000 point annual limit. Will the transaction fail? I don't want to risk someone being charged for points that the program does not allow me to be bought for my account.,
good question, unfortunately i have no idea what would happen if you try to purchase more. But as a suggestion, i believe it would be much better to buy a gift card, if the person thats purchasing it has a marriott card, they will earn 5pnts/$ and the person using it will be earning points for the paid stay. Purchasing points would be much more expensive and you can find most hotels category 9 for less than 563, which is what you would be spending to buy 45,000 points, not only that but you may apply that to any kind of room instead of the standard points room available, no need to worry about points room not being available, and higher chances of being upgraded since its not on points.
thats my 2 cents
