Egypt in January

I just returned from Cairo, Egypt. While there I stayed at the JW Marriott which has an attached golf course, great restaurants and an excellent fitness center. The hotel is just outside the city core and very accessable to the major transportation routes.

Even though I was there on business I did take the opportunity to see the pyramids by camel, the Egyptian Museum, take a nile cruise  and a great shopping excursion to the loacl marketplace in the city core - the Kahn Kahli.

Cairo is a huge city of 17 million and the traffic reflects the population. You have to have a driver because taking to the roads on your own would certainly mean an accident. My driver for my stay was a retired Egyptian Air Force officer. He was a very handy guy to have around because wherever we went all he had to was flash his military ID and we went to the front of the line.

I'd recommend visting during the off-season because crowds are reduced.

Looking to plan a trip for four to Egypt this June. We would like to see Cairo, pyramids etc and the Red Sea. Cairo Casino is very urban I read, the JW is near the airport. Is it  easy from either hotel to book sightseeing to the pyramids?

Does anyone have recent experience from the Marriotts Taba Heights, Sharm El Sheikh or Hurghada? Thank you.
