Here's a question a bit off the subject of travel, but one that might be of interest to "Insiders".
Are you familiar with, or do you take "probiotics", such as the one shown here that I take regularly:
You've probably seen a variety of TV advertisements regarding "probiotics", and while they're often most helpful following a regimen of antibiotics, due to health issues, I also take these regularly in hopes of improving my body's immune system. If you're not familiar with them, you might find this article of interest:
What are your thoughts about these products?
I myself haven't used them but I know several who do especially when traveling to less advanced countries where they will be staying in remote locations. They seem to help. When my mom travels to Central Aisa and other locations she uses probiotics to help counter the effects of 'tainted' water and the like. She also mentioned 'dirt' the other day - was afraid to ask .... she was having stomach issues that required some treatment.
I'd be interested in what others think as well!
fschumpert, this is a great thread!
I too take probiotics for a variety of reasons, though I generally take capsule types.
Since this is a travel site, though, I do believe that probiotics help to stabilize your system, especially when traveling. Of course we all know that traveling can have an effect on your digestive system, but I believe probiotics can minimize or eliminate these effects.
When traveling, I use Philips Colon Health simply because it doesn't require refrigeration and is a pretty good deal when purchased at Costco.
