Planning Caribbean vacation and looking for recommondations for anniversary (not really family) properties - Marriott or Ritz beach resorts.  Thanks!

Depending on what you are looking for, Scrub Island is great if you are looking for a secluded, quiet trip.  You can still island hop within BVI on excursions if you'd like.

I will second that vote for Scrub Island, we've been there twice and loved the tranquility each time.  Great location and pretty easy to reach through San Juan to Tortola then the Scrub Island Ferry.

I haven't been to Scrub Island, but hope to go in the next couple of years.

I have been to Aruba Stellaris & Casino and the Grand Cayman Marriott.  Loved both of them.  Both islands have much to offer in terms of restaurants, shopping, and excursions.  If you're looking for a big resort feel, then Aruba Stellaris is the one for you.  The Grand Cayman resort is nice, but is a little smaller.  I love both and will go back to each of them for different reasons.

If you decide with Aruba or Grand Cayman and need ideas or have questions about the hotel, I'd be happy to help.

Which do you think is better for Honeymoon? Aruba Marriott Stellaris of Grand Cayman Marriott?

Scrub Island is incredible and secluded......honeymoon perfect especially in one of suites or villas if you can score one of them.

          There's three givens in Insiders;

1)pingreeman wants guaranteed suite upgrades when using points

          2) erc is driven crazy by the Marriott Matrix and their infamous 'pricing quirks'

          and

          3) IAH loves him some Scrub Island

you are one step away from being walked softly by the moderators - (inside joke between erc,IAH, and walksoftly)

It's good to know that some things remain constant

(although what's that saying about doing the same thing expecting different results )

          Keep on keepin' on Insiders

Between the two you mentioned, no Contest, Marriott Aruba Stellaris much better than Cayman Island (been to both). If you add St. Thomas in the mix, then although I have never been there, I know people who have and the Ritz in St Thomas would probably be the best choice.

If you want a little bit of a quieter Honeymoon go with Grand Cayman (that's where I went 2 years ago and we loved it).  If you want a bigger hotel with a little more options then go to Aruba.  I don't think you'll be disappointed with either.  The Atlantis resort will be part of the Autograph Collection.

My wife and I stayed at the Ritz in St.Thomas this past February; it was the best vacation we have ever had!  The staff is awesome; the room was great with a nice sized balcony overlooking the water; the food was great (especially on Wednesday and Saturday when it is brought in fresh from a local fisherman - quite the ceremony)!!  We stayed on points and will be staying again next February (pay - no points; but a great deal of pay for 4 nights get 5th night free).

Don't forget that Atlantis is joining the Marriott line-up this fall. It is in the Bahamas, but not far from the Caribbean.

Definitely looking out to see what they do with Atlantis. Should be in system by January I heard. Not sure if you get points since it will be an SC brand??

Grand Cayman Ritz Carlton is very nice also. Spent our anniversary there last year and a weekend this year.
