Best Beaches?

There have been many threads about the best beaches but most are about specific destinations or regions. I thought it would be fun and useful to start one that is open to the world. Post away!

I'll start: Charleston, S.C. (beautiful and wide, soft sand and warm waters. You can also see dolphins jumping through the surf!), Carmel, CA (just love this area in general and the community is wonderful. Laid back beach and noticed lots of people having little campfires), and Santorini, Greece (amazing beaches in a variety of colors. It's like a dream!).

My wife plans our beach trips and she lets Dr. Beach (www.drbeach.org) do the research for us. So far, we've been very happy with his selections. Recent visits:

    Main Beach, East Hampton, NY

    Siesta Key, Florida

    Grayton Beach State Park, Florida

    Coronado Beach, San Diego, California

That photo is amazing! It doesn't look real!! Did you camp out there?

I will add these to my list.

I thought the same thing. If I hadn't been there myself I would have thought it was photoshopped. I shared more photos, my first post on the community, in this album: Courtyard Sandestin at Grand Boulevard

No, we didn't camp there, but the tent offered a great reprieve from the sun during the day and fit nicely in our luggage.
