The title of my thread rather spells out what is going on in the Tommo household. One of us will have to be on dialysis in (probably) a years time. Is there anyone out there who has experience of having peritoneal dialysis supplies delivered to Marriott hotels? Especially in the UK, as we wouldn't be travelling abroad at all.
I really would appreciate your input on this very specialist subject folks, and perhaps The specified item was not found. and merb might be able to tell me how much Marriott in the UK know about this issue.
Hi Tommo781. I'm glad you reminded us about this question, as we did get some information back while Josh was out on vacation (he'll be back online next Monday). Sorry about the delay.
Our customer service experts did some calling around to hotels in the UK (London Marriott Hotel Marble Arch & St. Pierre Marriott Hotel & Country Club). They all seemed willing to help, but asked if we had more detail on the types of supplies that would be delivered (i.e. would anything be flammable). We'd advise you to let us know your dates of travel prior to your arrival so we may reach out to the hotels where you'll be staying on your behalf. We do not suspect hotels would turn down deliveries for medical supplies, but it was hard to obtain a definitive answer until they knew what might be delivered. Let us know if you have any additional details at this stage. Hope this helps!
jmart I am actually astounded by this response! I spelled out exactly what the medical items are. Peritoneal dialysis supplies. These are not that rare. There are over 500,000 people in the US alone on dialysis. The point of peritoneal dialysis is that it is flexible. Quite honestly, when I asked the question I expected Marriott, as a global brand, to know all about it, not for you to contact a couple of hotels in the UK, neither of which I use. Your customer care team should have been fully able to know what might be delivered from the information in my original post. I suggest they read this. Patients on peritoneal dialysis It really is bad enough having to face this problem, without a major hotel brand denying all knowledge of what is not a rare occurrence. Thankyou for making me feel that my problem is not one that Marriott really cares about. http://www.uhb.nhs.uk/Downloads/pdf/PiHolidayPeritonealDialysis.pdf
Your link is very helpful since I personally was not aware what the specific supplies would be. After reading the PDF, I can imagine that any property would be happy to help when the time comes, but I also better understand your interest in planning ahead as much as possible. I did not intend to make you feel that we don't care about you, and I have asked that someone reach out to you directly to help. Do you know which property is likely to be the first one you'd stay at where you'd want the supplies to be received and stored?
