This is my first post to the forum (long time listener). I want to start by saying how helpful this has been to me as Marriott Rewards member. This place is a great resource, so thank you to Marriott for hosting this site, as well as having staff available to answer questions/concerns.
So the husband and I are registered for the Paris Marathon for 2015 and are very excited. We are planning a 3 week trip to Paris for it. I added the Paris Marriott Champs-Elysees to my Dream Tracker, but it has a maximum amount of 5 days. If I add the hotel multiple times to my dream tracker, will I be able to book more nights with the Dream Tracker discount? Or will they be treated as separate reservations? There doesn't seem to be "terms and conditions" for the Dream Tracker, or a lot of discussion of its uses here on the forum. Can anyone shed some light on how to handle the long stay via Dream Tracker?
I've placed a couple properties in Hawaii in my DreamRewards Tracker. After selecting a hotel, the option of choosing up to 5 nights is available. As far as I know, this is just a way to track how close you are to accumulating enough points to redeem for a particular stay. Other than the 5th night free when you redeem 4 nights on points, I am not aware of any other discounts on the Dream Tracker. Points saver awards may be available, but you could get those regardless of whether you are tracking a hotel.
It appears not much attention is given to the DreamRewards Tracker section. After the website revamp, it is nearly impossible to find. I suspect that if you book a stay on points for, let's say, 20 days, you would need to use points to pay for 16 (with the other 4 nights free). I don't know if there is a limit on a particular stay. Perhaps others can answer that.
Based on what I see in the DreamRewards Tracker, the assumption is that you will only want to book a stay of 5 or fewer nights. I really think this feature is designed as a way to show you how close you are to having enough points for a free stay. Pick your hotel, choose the number of nights (up to 5) and you get the required points and a status bar showing how close you are to being able to book the stay. That's really all it does. I put a couple hotels in a few years back and keep having to update as the categories change (from cat 6 to 8 in the last two years )
When you actually make the reservation and expend the points, I expect you'll have no problem having it show up as a single reservation.
