I stayed in Hilton Head last August at the Grande Ocean and played golf every day. Had a great time, but the heat was almst overbearing!
Where would Marriott travelers recommend taking a golf vacation in the summer to avoid opressive heat? I'm most interested in locations served by a Marriott Vacation Club.
You may want to consider Michigan for the hot days. There is and excellent Marriott property in the nothern part of Michigan directly on Lake Michigan in Bay Harbor, 3600 Village Harbor Drive, Bay Harbor, MI 49770, 1 231-439-4000.
Excellent golf with breathtaking views, the lake for the family and a great hotel.
There is a Marriott Vacation Resort just outside Atlantic City, NJ. This Place is close enough to Atlantic City to do a little gambling or catch a show or tow. There are two Great golf courses on the Marriott property. Look them up; they are ranked in the top ten in NJ. And the breeze off the ocean keeps it cool.
Try "scenic" Seaside CA, home of two of the most challenging courses on the mainland Black Horse and Bayonet, former Fort Ord military courses, recently upgraded. From there you can see the Links at Pebble and save 400 bucks!
We have a Mediterranean Climate: perhaps the only place in the continental US where you never need air conditioning, and seldom need heat. Summers can be foggy in the am, as the warm air overlays the colder ocean and pulls in the fog. Given the history of the last couple summers, though, the sun might be there early and stay out. Expect highs in the 60s and 70s, no real insects flying around and bright sun (wear SPF15 at least) as you beat par!
