Hello, new to the Insiders. My company recently switched from Hilton to Marriott so I have asked them to do the challenge to at least get to gold. My question as stated in the title…do the elite credits from my new Marriott Visa count towards the challenge goal of 6 stays in 90 days?
Welcome to Insiders! If I had to take a guess the answer would be no. Since a "stay" could be any number of nights I would think the elite night credits received from the credit card would not count as a stay. However I will tag our Marriott Insider specialists The specified item was not found. and merb who should be able to give you an official answer.
Unless corrected otherwise, I would report that "stays", or "nights", credited toward your annual reward status (Silver, Gold, Platinum, etc.) are generated only these ways:
(1) actual stays in Marriott properties
(2) actual stays in Marriott Villas (Vacation Club Program)
(3) bonus night credited upon anniversary of credit card program renewal
(4) bonus nights credited upon completion of a particular Marriott seasonal promotion, such as their current "Mega Bonus": http://www.marriott.com/rewards/promotion.mi?promotion=MS14
(5) Forgot, also, one night for birthday
Reward points (credits) are generated via hotel stays and company credit card charges.
We spoke to the Rewards Team. We did received confirmation that only stayed nights will count towards the Elite challenges. The bonus nights from the credit card will not count.

Welcome to the Insiders community and hope this helps!
vaboywnder is right. "Stays" and "nights" are different. A stay is one instance of check-in and check-out which could be for one night or several nights. If you must make 6 "stays" over 90 days, the elite nights from the credit card will not could. They would, however, be counted toward earning(or maintaining) elite status for next year.
I agree with bejacob. I took the Platinum challenge and found on further talking to the agent that I could do either:
1) 6 stays
2) 18 days
I chose to go for the 18 days. However, this isn't an option they give right away, so you may need to talk to the customer care representative. I have had colleagues who have not been able to get the 18 days challenge, they may have stopped giving out that option completely.
