California is in the middle of a prolonged water shortage caused by an exceptional drought, as recent comparative images from NASA/NOAA show. So if you are coming to California in the near future be prepared for water shortages and restrictions: no water served in restaurants without a lot of arm twisting, dry landscapes (normal in summer, not this time of the year), signs everywhere, including at Marriott's about conservation of water.
Just a heads up.
Good luck for moisture!
It was a most serious issue in Arizona last week, and there will be a lot of problems, if you don't get some rain soon!
Look what happened in Atlanta last week with 2" of snow?
I don't want to think about "Doomesdayer's" but it's a good show, and I know I am NOT prepared!
Last week we drove from San Francisco to Palm Springs via Bakersfield. It was terribly upsetting to see "brown" everywhere, where there should have been green fertile growing fields. Over 1/2 of the produce grown in the US comes from that valley!!! We are in for some really tough times (as the farmers' signs posted along the road stated) if we don't get some water there soon.
Jay Leno said on his recent show, " NASA is developing ways to make water on the moon -- why don't they do it here in California where WE need it!!"
We can send out billions in foreign aid, but there's "not enough funds" to build desalination plants in California. Maybe congress thinks it will be more efficient to construct a pipeline from NY to CA to get rid of some of this everending snow!
