Difference between Marriott.com and the individual brands

I was booking an upcoming trip to Pittsburg and was dismayed at the hotel prices (The Steelers are not even in the playoffs!!! I went to a discount site and did a search. I saw the Springhill Suites on the North Shore was 10 bucks a night less. When I looked where they got the price from it was springhillsuites.com. I always book on the Marriott.com site and just figured that would give me the best price on all the hotels.

I even went and confirmed this by going to springhillsuites.com and plugging in the same information. Imagine the surprise when it was $10 less a night. Marriott, you guys are killing me. I now have to waste time searching every single brand of yours to double check your main web sites price?

(For each location tag, you will be guided through a 3-step process to add (1) a city and a state or a city and a country, (2) a Marriott brand, and (3) a Marriott hotel.)
