We've been back down in the deep freeze since what turned out to be awful 50 degree Monday (when lots melted and refroze). It was -2 this morning and got to a high of 12. And guess what? Heavy rain, warm temps and thunderstorms for Boston for the Pats game tomorrow night. Sigh. Just when you want snow and ice.
Anyway, even the REAL Mainers (I don't count as 20yrs) I have spoken with about this below 0 spell have agreed that it has been the worst period of weather for a lengthy period of time in their lifetimes, except for the ice storm of 1998. We have been below 0 for the most part for the better part of 3 weeks or more (could be more since I was in Venice) except for two days when it was 50. That's a recipe for disaster and dispiriting (or maybe spirit-ing might be the answer).
