Here it is at 54 cents per mile (PS, I have lived here 28 years and never paid so for a donation of 1,000,000 points I will share my secret, which is very legal and used by almost no one else).

    Hmmmmm.......

Could there be a connection relating 'no tolls paid' and your service during the Pebble beach golf tournament.......?

I do know that if you patronize businesses on 17 mile drive, such as Peppoli's at Inn at Spanish Bay, they will validate your receipt and you can get a refund on the toll.

The toll on the George Washington Bridge leading in to NYC is $13, or $14.40/mile - and no validations.

Well, it's nice they don't charge you to escape.

Same as the Tappan Zee Bridge, pay one way, not the other.  BTW I can drive from here to Denver and not pay a single road toll, just a bridge here and there.

If you want to drive to JFK from central NJ: Goethals Bridge eastbound ($13)  then returning westbound the Verrazano ($15). $28 round trip. That I find absolutely ridiculous. They have paid for both bridges many times over and can easily afford the maintenance and upkeep with those funds but they continue to rise.

This is the bridge district run amok, and it is happening everywhere, going to support shovel leaners and other non-workers as well as big offices not near the bridge. Also, it would be interesting to see how many of them, and their political allies, get a free ride over those bridges.  Out there there are plenty of non-payers.

Couldn't agree more. It has always been the case, one guy digging and 3 guys watching. Except in the Northeast, the 3 guys watching are not only doing nothing but they make large salaries and are protected in unions.

Hmmm....I seem to remember with the 'Big Dig' that all four guys would wait at the bar for someone else to show up and do the digging.......!

Now, now, don't everyone chuckle, it's actually a true story. One of the local TV stations (WBZ I think at the time) exposed all these guys who would come to work and just leave and go to a nearby bar every day until the work shift was over.

One of my favorite TV shows, the Sopranos, did a few episodes on "No Shows," Union contracts where the wise guys showed up to do nothing and make sure no one else did either.

Obviously since it is a TV show and not a documentary it is not 100% accurate, but more than you would think is true. There are absolutely mafia controlled businesses and no show jobs and scams out there.

David Chase, the show's creator based these episodes on real life scenarios and situations, he said in an HBO interview.

We call it the CAlTrans phenomenon out here.
