Our good friend's father in Chatham on the Cape was the editorial cartoonist for a major Boston newspaper for decades. Jim Dobbins was a great man, someone who gave generously of his time, and among other things, helped us "wash-a-shores" settle into the Cape Cod lifestyle, ironically during Hurricane Bob, in 1991! 


We have several of his fine art works (one oil of Ted Williams resting against the Green Monster is my favorite) here and in Chatham. Jim was an Irish-American Bostonian, a tall lanky fellow with an irresistible grin and booming voice. Once you became his friend, it was for life.


It is his editorial cartoons that make the most impressions for me, like this one published the day after Dallas.
