Favorite Marriott Views????

What are your favorite views from a Marriott property?

An off-line discussion got me started thinking about this.  I know that comparing views has an apples and oranges aspect to it, so - if you can't decide - just identify your top 10 (or, of course, fewer).  Here my top 10 (alphabetically):

  • Baltimore - Renaissance Harborplace (Inner Harbor) - bonus points to the hotel for providing binoculars!!! - Baltimore Inner Harbor
  • Barcelona - Ritz Carlton Hotel Arts - beach, water, etc.
  • Boston - Customs House - Eagle Suite - Platinums - add this to your bucket list
  • Budapest - killer concierge lounge deck - Budapest Marriott - pocket camera shots, but you get the idea
  • Guam - Tumon Bay Marriott - top floor, corner suite, balcony looks over the entire bay - also, the concierge lounge
    • update - I was sad to learn that Marriott is leaving this property (which is becoming a Pacific Star)
  • Las Vegas - the Cosmopolitan - the higher floor balconies rock!!! - Vegas Cosmopolitan - Rockin' Balcony - and those are pocket camera shots...
  • London Heathrow Renaissance - plane watching heaven - Runway Watching: LHR Renaissance
  • Niagra Falls - the Falls Suite - wow - hypnotic (day and night)
  • Seattle - Renaissance downtown - top floor, corner room - wow
  • Toronto Renaissance - baseball fan's dream - center field of Rogers Park - Toronto Renaissance - In The Ballpark - scroll down for photos

OK, and some honorable mentions too - I'll try to keep this list under 10:

  • Albuquerque Marriott Pyramid - at sunset - particularly when a storm is rolling in - awesome - but take the Sandia cable car for the real view
  • Bochum, Germany - Courtyard - view from the gym of the harbor (Hafen) - and the needle is a short walk away for the very best view
  • Chicago Renaissance - looking down on the river
  • DC (but really Maryland) - Gaylord National Harbor - interior balcony looking over courtyard and river
  • Hong Kong Renaissance or the airport Marriott - both have killer views - but, of course, neither holds a candle to the Peak
  • Miami - Biscayne Bay Marriott - View from my hotel window/balcony - in panoramic mode (thus, not entirely accurate)
  • NYC - Times Square Renaissance - NYC - Times Square Renaissance (and some winter scenes) - but it's hard to compete with the Empire State Building
  • Orlando - JW Marriott Grande Lakes
  • Singapore Marriott - concierge lounge (although you should visit the Sands Casino/Hotel Skybar if you really like views)

(For each location tag, you will be guided through a 3-step process to add (1) a city and a state or a city and a country, (2) a Marriott brand, and (3) a Marriott hotel.)

I'm going to include a few local spots as well in my top in order as they come to my mind:

    • Baltimore Renaissance Harborplace - Great view of the harbor as well as excellent location to find very good restaurants and close to Fell's Point.  http://www.fellspoint.us/
    • Boston Custom House - Views of downtown, close to North End and all the excellent Italian joints, wonderful seafood dining spots and a short walk to the water taxi dock to get to/from BOS Logan Airport  http://www.northendboston.com/
    • Seattle Waterfront - Top floor corner room with gorgeous views of Elliott Bay, Mt. Rainer, Olympic Mountains, Pike Place Market up the stairs or elevator along side the hotel and the sunsets over Alki

    • Chicago Renaissance - I'll copy ssindc thoughts on the view of the river

One of my favorite views is from the Marriott Vacation Club in Newport Coast. We usually have a wonderful ocean and golf coast view overlooking Laguna and Newport beach from a hillside. The sunsets are spectacular and the scenery reminds me of the Mediterranean coast. I wish I had pictures to share, but probably couldn't figure out how to download them if I did.

Oceana Palms on Singer Island is another favorite.

    • Orlando - JW Marriott Grande Lakes
    • Singapore Marriott - concierge lounge (although you should visit the Sands Casino/Hotel Skybar if you really like views)

I will be staying at the Renaissance in Toronto next year or the year after so I look forward to that one.  The best I've experienced so far is The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas overlooking the Bellagio Fountains (just having a balcony in Las Vegas is worth noting).

Honorable mention number 1 is Cincinnati Marriott RiverCenter.  This is partly influenced by the fireworks show at Great American Ballpark but on regular days, you do get the full city skyline.

Honorable mention number 2 is the Courtyard Kansas City Briarcliff.  Most Courtyards are located in suburban areas and this is no different, but this is also one of the few Courtyards located on a bluff with a view of a city skyline.

For Concierge Lounge view, the San Francisco Marriott Union Square during the holidays.  You are right over Union Square Plaza so you get the big Christmas tree as well as one of the nicest Macy's properties with each store window sporting a huge seasonal wreath.

jerrycoin - absolutely - that's a great pic... but, but... you're cheating, you're off topic, you've, you've, you've ... gone rogue.....  And, not surprisingly, that trouble-making muck-raker erc just jumped right onto the bandwagon with you, hijacking this thread right off the tracks (yup, pun intended)!!!!

The discussion thread was: What are your favorite views from a Marriott property?  Since when is Marriott in the train business?  Did they buy the Orient Express and not tell us about it????  I don't think so...  We need a little discipline around here!!!  Maybe we can get communitymanager or merb  to deduct 20 of those oh-so-valuable Marriott Insiders credits for non-responsiveness.  Yuck, yuck....  All BS aside - great pics, jerrycoin - keep on postin'!!!!!

p.s. one of the most interesting thing about this thread is that many of us have both over-lapping and completely different favorites!!!!  Some of the repeat favorites appear to include:

      • Baltimore Renaissance Harborplace
      • Boston's Custom House
      • Chicago Renaissance
      • Coronado Marriott
      • Hawaii, Hawaii, Hawaii
      • Hong Kong

          Me too!

I must confess, but I was staying at a Marriott property!

Will do better next time!  Let's see if I can find one that will comply?

            jerrycoin,

Hey, get out of our room in SEA, that's our favorite room how'd you get in there!

Also, I started the trend off topic when I put in the picture from Row 1 inbound to Maui so don't you dare give erc any credit for that little item!!

Ya gotta love the recurring properties that keep showing up, like SEA and our favorite room, ahhh but as I just noticed from your pic it isn't our favorite room, the balcony around the corner doesn't exist so you must have been in 747 rather than...oh I can't tell everyone the best room in the joint.

              IAHFLYR,

We'll never disclose the actual room, but here are a few more pictures of it!

              IMGP0030.JPG

Nice living room!  It has its own balcony overlooking the waterfront!

              IMGP0031.JPG

The spacious bedroom has its own balcony as well.  Three balconies for one room is a record for me!

              IMGP0040.JPG

Here's a look at the room from in front of the hotel!

Hope I don't get into more trouble with ssindc, but this is the hotel!

I have an idea, but I'll never disclose my room, there is just one difference.

          buckwheat,

Have only been once, many years ago!

So bring on any photo's and advice!  Will be there for my Birthday in early December.

          Have two great dinner reservations already at;

          La Pergola

          Quinzi & Gabrielli

Both are highly recommended!  buckwheat, have one week at Grand Flora, so again, anything you can recommend, is appreciated!

      buckwheat,

Great shots, thanks for sharing them.  I enjoy the view in San Diego from Coronado Island more than the marina hotel, just can't find the pictures looking back from the island!

      S3600017.JPG

But the marina hotel is much closer to Kansas City BBQ where they filmed the Top Gun bar scenes!

Such a shame they didn't keep the famous dinner house in better condition.
