Any suggestions on a Mexico destination wedding???

We are trying to decide between destination wedding locations that are not too far for our guests traveling from the midwest and east coast. We have been looking into Cancun (both JW and CasaMagna), Puerto Vallarta and Curacao.  Does anybody have any experience with either of these locations?  Are the all inclusive packages worth it?

In addition, I am a Platinum Premier member and my fiance and I was wondering if anyone has any input/suggestions on whether or not we are able to use this to get discounts on rooms/services. We are planning to have approximately 50 guests.

I don't think I will give you a good answer, but have stayed at Casa Magna both Cancun and Puerto Vallarta as well as Curacao Marriott.  My one comment is that the beachs at the Curacao Marriott and Puarto Vallarta are not nearly as nice as Cancun.  Service at all three hotels was about the same - in my opinion.  The Curacao Marriott has a casino if that is of interest.  Likely any hotel in Cancun will be easier to get to vs Puerta Vallarta and Curacao.  Good luck!

    arov,

Congratulations on upcoming wedding, best to you and your fiance!

While I'm not a fan of Mexico any longer and no desire to return, I've been to all the Mexico properties you mentioned.  Much prefer Cancun to Puerto Vallarta simply for the white sand beaches, beautiful Caribbean water and the close flights from the middle and east coast of the U.S.  All of them have been great spots for our vacations over the years, but the favorite was JW Cancun.  Casa Magna is about 10 years older yet a fine spot none the less.  Here a few pictures from our last stay at the JW, in 2011.

Yes in the summer you will get a daily storm for a few minutes, this is looking south from our room

As for any discounts, call the Platinum line and ask them about anything special for your situation, or try and call the hotel.....buena suert!

What time of year is your wedding planned to take place?

      Thanks IAHFLYR,

We are planning a wedding for the last week of October 2014. Not quite sure what the weather will be like during that time but planning on checking out a few places this October.

The weather will most likely be slightly cooler on the PV side, and around 85-90 on the Caribbean side.  Other than a possible storm near the end of the hurricane season Caribbean should be very nice.

I've been to both Mexican properties and while both are lovely, I didn't enjoy going off-property.  Vendors, restaurant/bar employees, store employees, and beggars are constantly literally pulling on you to get you into their establishments.  Will not go back.

Congrats!!!  My wife and I were married in Jamaica at an all inclusive resort on the beach...  Only way to go...

I can't comment on the Marriotts there, but I will tell you two things related to your question...

    1.  Cancun over the other two cities...  I prefer being south of Cancun on the Riviera Maya, but the beaches are much better in that area for sure.

    2.  After our second all-inclusive vacation, my wife and I made the choice to always go AI if vacationing in the Caribbean or Mexico...  WELL worth it in my opinion.  But know what you are getting into with each property AI-wise... Some include things others don't...  Here is a good start on seeing what you get:  Mexico All Inclusive Vacations

Here's to a long and healthy marriage to you!!!!  (dang... I wish there was a toasting emoticon on here... LOL)

      Thanks captbigguy!

That is great info to have, we are thinking many of our guests would like the all inclusive option and have heard that some of the meals/drinks can be expensive on the resort.

      Thanks for your feedback
