I just saw exerpts from an article in USA Today that Marriott announced free breakfast (at least continental) for all platinum members plus one guest 7 nights per week beginning 6/22. I may have missed this, but I haven't seen any announcement regarding this policy, nor the details. Will this include resorts and Courtyards? I'm surprised to read this in an USA Today exerpt rather than an announcement on Insiders, but this follows the recent trend that important customers are the last to be informed.
Well Hallelujah and strike up the band. It seems like Marriott FINALLY listened to its customers. Maybe enough of us here protested and left for other chains that the impact was being felt. Maybe some in Corporate read about the competiton. If this is true (and I will believe it when I travel with my spouse and over a weekend in NYC in 3 weeks and see if we really are offered free breakfast). Thanks to those who reported this. if its true, we might see dancing in the streets!
Starting June 22, Marriott Rewards Gold and Platinum Elite members plus a guest will get free continental breakfast seven days a week in the lounge or restaurant of participating hotels in the U.S. and Canada, the company will announce Tuesday.
If you'd rather not claim your muffin in the morning, you can opt for an additional 750 rewards points, instead.
which is why I dont stay at CY hotels. If they are, as the old slogan Marriott had "Designed for business travellers by business travellers" then they they must have hired buisness travellers with unlimited Travel reimbursement to design the current charge for breakfast policy at CY's, as noone I know wants to pay for breakfast at a hotel if they have status and at any of the other brands of the flag would get it free.
It appears that resorts and Courtyards are still excluded. I have found that many hotels offer complimentary breakfasts (full buffet) on weekends already, but it is nice to see minimum standards set. I also like the $10 F&B credit, but hope the current options are still offered. The 1/2 bottle of merlot and fruit would cost more than $10.
