Niagara Falls

I am traveling to Montreal this October and would like to visit Niagara Falls as well.  I have been told to stay on the Ontario side and someone suggested Niagara on the Lake.  Could someone tell me if this is best.  Any suggestions?

Yes, definitely stay on the Ontario side. It is livelier, has all the tourist attractions and best views of the Falls.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is a very quaint town where the renowned Shaw Festival will still have a few shows playing in October. Niagara-on-the-Lake is in the heart of wine country with several dozen wineries within a 30 minute drive.

You can stay in either Niagara Falls or Niagara-on-the-Lake. They are about 20 minutes away from each other along the very scenic Niagara Parkway, which follows the river and includes a bike path for riding, roller blading or walking.
