My wife and I traveled to Phukett in November of 2007. We flew through Tokyo with a 2 hour layover, then on to Bangkok for an overnight. Tokyo was relatively easy to get through the airport, finding our gate and the traveler's club to stay in during the wait. United's Red Carpet Room is ok, but was pretty crowded when we arrived. Bangkok was warm and humid, and we stayed at the airport that night.

We left for Phukett the next morning.  A tip: have an idea how much it will cost for a cab ride from the airport to your hotel, as there are a number of taxi drivers not controlled who will charge you an exorbitant amount of money for the ride. We had one approach us, who we felt good about, and who met us at our appointed times throughout our stay and was reasonable on his trip charges. Also gave us a tip on a local restaurant.

All in all, it was a long flight for good weather, nice people for sure.

(For each location tag, you will be guided through a 3-step process to add (1) a city and a state or a city and a country, (2) a Marriott brand, and (3) a Marriott hotel.)
