Hello! Many of you wanted to be alerted when this came back this Spring. ITS BACK! (April 2013)
Great deal when converting a Travel Package. I am going to convert one for 120k miles and get 60k Bonus. Not a bad deal!
It's not too good to be true. I have done it three years in a row. When you transfer Marriott Rewards Points to US Airways this month (straight mile transfer or a Travel Package) you will get a 50% bonus on the miles that you should have earned. Bonus miles usually post about 2 weeks after the promo ends.
SO, if a Travel Package NORMALLY yields 120k miles, I will get the 120k miles within a few days. Mid-May, I will get another 60k miles.
I just ordered 120,000 US Air miles and should get another 60,000. I am counting on these becoming AA miles. If not, I have 180,000 US Air miles to use. Thanks tker
I also saw a trick that seems to allow you to go to Asia and Europe with a layover, for less points than it takes to go to just Europe.
Trick for taking trip to Europe and Asia for less miles than just to Europe alone:
Thanks for the generous comment, Tryt. Sometimes I wonder if I haven't had ADD all my life (although it seems like the confusion didn't start until I began having kids ). Things just tend to get jumbled or else lost (or misplaced?) inside the old brain bucket anymore. The kids are grown and (almost) gone, but the confusion remains!
Did you order miles directly from Marriott's Mileage Order Page, or did you get them as part of ordering the Marriott Travel Plan? It shouldn't matter which way, other than the number of Marriott points you end up using, and what you get for those Marriott points. Either way you should get the 60,000 miles bonus from US Airways.
I didn't find it on their site either. I called them about a week ago and got a service rep who didn't know much about it either. When I gave him the url, he said it was valid, but still seemed a little clueless about it. I'm going a lot by the luck tker has had with using it in past years.
Thank you for the vote of confidence. I don't anticipate any problems. I do, by habit, print these offers and T's and C's-especially when something is supposed to happen as a follow up. (Such as the bonus miles) NEVER had a problem with US. But, I have read about difficulty with cc offers etc. So, I cover my bases. I have a copy of this offer in case the bonus miles don't show. But, that will be a first after three years of success.
In all fairness, award tix are capacity controlled. US Airways tix to Maui are as follows (one way)
|20,000 Low||32,500 Medium||45,000 High|
So, you are being offered medium level on US while other airlines are less.
NOW, you do have another option. Use Star Alliance and go on a partner-like United. 40k miles round trip-fixed mileage fee. You have to call US Airways to do this. (NOTE: Because United is offering tix using their mile does not mean they are available as partner awards.

Thanks. For this trip, I will pay since I have a travel voucher from when the pilots were having their flight delays and cancellations. I was just checking to see the value since as of now AA is the least expensive and did have what I wanted, if I had the miles.
I also tried to pay one way and use miles for the other but found that the cost of a one way flight was about twice the cost of a round trip.
I got mine today as well. It seems that it doesn't matter what day you did the actual transfer. pluto77 did your miles show up? I know you transfered at the last second, so I've got my fingers crossed. If you didn't, maybe you can start the conversations with US Airways right away and see if you can still get them.
Thanks for the helpful suggestion though, as well as the suggestion about the US Airways c/c, Tryt.
