Looking for hints when traveling to Mallorca, Spain

We will likely be going there in September 2008.  Anyone have any travel tips (do's/don'ts, must see/must avoid, best way to get to from, etc) on Mallorca?

Definitely have a hire car and spend half your time outside in 'real Mallorca'. Valdemossa (Charterhouse and old town); Soller (epic drive or train ride from Palma) where the town beach has a raft in the bay to swim out; La Granja at Esporles - authentically preserved working estate/farm. The best, most secluded beaches are in the South East, beyond Santanyi. And then you come back to the resort and all its modern conveniences. It's a great contrast.

Hi we have been owners at son antem for ten years and have been there 15 or 16 times mostly in spring and autumn depending on how much time you have and how active you want to be (also if you are unfortunate enough to get rain) there is a good range of things to do and see or if you are just thereto rest and chill its great for that. i have a 16yr old son and a 12 yr old daughter and although we always hire a car we dont always do much outside of the resortexcept our obligatory evening trip at least once into Palma to shop and get a restaurant for what is always a wonderful meal. Son antem is a golf resort with two ok courses and a decent spa which has a heated indoor and outdoor combo the food is passable for a week after that you probably need to get out of the resort which although has everything is a bit out in the sticks but only a 15minute drive to pPalma and even  closer to the airport. Villas are usual spacious well equipped but the spanish staff dont do snappy but are otherwise very pleasant you should have a nice time especially if the weather holds we always look forward to our time there but we are golfers and like to just hangout.
